How are the Wines Selected?

Mike and the tasting panel use a classic Sommelier twenty point scale to rate wines.  In order to make the cut, wines must achieve high scores in categories such as Appearance, Color, Aroma, Volatile Acidity, Balance, Body, Flavor, Total Acid and General Quality - A tall order and thus the high quality wines featured in Wine Room Wine Club shipments!

When are the Wine Pick-up Parties?

Exclusive wine pick-up parties occur on the second Sunday of the month.  Join us at Palo Alto’s Wine Room from 4-6pm to pick up your wine club shipment as well as taste the month’s selections.  Additionally, members can meet winemakers and other wine enthusiasts.  Attendance is free for wine club members and each member can bring two guests.

What is the Wine Pick-up Policy?

Due to limited space at The Wine Room, we cannot hold wine club shipments for extended periods of time. We offer two consecutive days during the month for wine club members to pick up shipments – the second Sunday of the month and the following Monday. If you are unable to make it to The Wine Room on the two pick-up days, we will ship your wine to your address on file.

What is the Sales Tax and Estimated Shipping Fees?

Sales tax will be added to your purchase where applicable. Shipping charges are extra and will range between $7.50 and $9.50, or more, for any two-bottle package, depending on your location within the continental U.S. If you order more than two bottles for a single package, shipping charges will be more than the ones quoted above. You are welcome to call or email us for precise amounts. Quoted shipping prices are for ground transport. Please call or email us with instructions if you prefer air freight.

When will my order ship?

Most bottle orders ship within 48 hours. Wine Club shipments go out on or near the 10th of every month.

How do I cancel my membership?

There is no fee to join the Wine Room Club and you may cancel at any time.  You are responsible for any charges accrued prior to cancellation.  Cancellations should be performed through our website. In order to assure that you are not billed for the upcoming release, we must receive your cancellation notice at least two weeks prior to the next billing date.

To cancel your membership, go to, log into your account, then click the “Cancel Membership” button from the left hand column options.

What is the Refund/Exchange Policy?

Wine Room Wine Club releases are non-refundable and they cannot be exchanged.  If a wine is defective, please let us know and we are happy to replace it.

How do I view or post to the Sommelier Forum?

In order to view or post any content on the Sommelier Forum, you’ll need to log into your account so the site recognizes you as a member.  Members are the only ones allowed to ask our resident Sommelier questions or view any forum.
